Forbes 2013 Richest People includes 11 Filipinos

The 2013 billionaires list was released by Forbes on Monday, March 4, 2013. There was no major changes in the recent lineup of the world's richest people.

Carlos Salim, the Mexican telco magnate, is still the number one billionaire with an estimated net worth of $73 billion.

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is in second place with net worth of about $67 billion.

Amancio Ortega ($57 billion) of Spain grabbed the third spot from Warren Buffett ($53.5 billion). Oracle CEO Larry Ellison ($43 billion) completed the top five richest people.

Meanwhile, Henry Sy of the SM Group of companies was listed by Forbes as the richest Filipino and in 68th place in the global list. The shopping mall tycoon and his family has an approximate net worth valued at $13.2 billion.

Lucio Tan is reportedly the second-richest Filipino with a net worth of $5 billion. He is actively involve in diversified businesses that include banking, airline, liquor, tobacco and real estate.
