Disneyland Space Mountain closed indefinitely due to safety issue

Space Mountain was closed over the weekend as California state regulators raised concerns on employee safety.

Disneyland was forced to voluntarily shutdown its famous roller coaster ride after receiving citations on Friday, April 12, 2013.

The theme park also suspended operations of Matterhorn Bobsleds and Soarin' Over California while it conducts its own review of employee safety protocols.

California Division of Occupational Safety and Health issued the citations on Disneyland due to a November incident. A worker was reportedly injured while conducting a maintenance of the Space Mountain exterior.

In a statement issued by Disneyland Resorts spokeswoman Suzi Brown, she explained that the company, "constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors — and we are reviewing certain protocols."

The citations indicated that "Disneyland Resort failed to have approved anchorages or approved tie-backs for contract employees to attach to when performing scheduled exterior building maintenance."

Matterhorn reopened on Sunday but the other two rides remained closed indefinitely.

World's largest message in a bottle (Photo, Video)

How many times have we heard that someone found a message in a bottle along the coast line? However, no one has ever come up with the idea of using this as a marketing campaign for any product. Not yet until someone launched one last month.

A Norwegian softdrink manufacturer used the idea of creating the "world's largest message in a bottle" to uniquely promote their product. And this may not come cheap.

Solo softdrink floated a 26-foot, 2.5-ton bottle replica off the Tenerife coast last March. Contained inside the bottle is a 12-square meter letter.

Advertising agency Try/Apt Oslo is reportedly the brains behind the idea of the "world's largest message in a bottle."

The unmanned giant floating bottle features the beverage's notable neon-color. To automatically document its ocean journey, the behemoth bottle is equipped with cameras and a GPS that tweets its location on its Twitter account @solosoftdrink.

As of posting, the Solo bottle is making its voyage in the Atlantic.

Solo CEO, Joakim Sand, explained that,
It's impossible to tell how long the voyage will last, hopefully we will not end up breaking the Captain Brown record for the oldest message in a bottle—it roamed the sea for 97 years and 309 days.

Below is a video of Solo's "world's largest message in a bottle."

What is your take on Solo's marketing campaign? Will this not affect the sea creatures that it will come across its voyage? Will this appeal environmentalist? Let your voice be heard by providing your comments below this article.
