Class Suspensions on August 12, 2013 Due to Typhoon Labuyo

Typhoon Labuyo has brought heavy rains in several Luzon areas on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Based on the latest Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecast, Typhoon Labuyo will dumped more rains until Monday, August 12, 2013.

In anticipation of more rains, local government units has announced earlier today that classes are suspended on Monday. Below are the cities and municipalities who already made a declaration of no classes.

  • City of Manila (public and private; preschool and elementary)
  • Mandaluyong City (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Makati City (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • San Juan (public and private; all levels)
  • Pateros (public and private; all levels)
  • Tagaytay (public and private; preschool and elementary)
  • Angeles, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • San Mateo, Rizal (public and private; all levels)
  • Las Pinas (public and private; elementary to high school)
  • Malabon (public and private; preschool)
  • Caloocan (public and private; elementary)
  • Muntinlupa (public and private; elementary and high school)
  • Dagupan (public and private; elementary and high school)
  • Cainta (public and private; preschool, elementary and high school)
  • Taguig (public and private; preschool and elementary)
  • Navotas (public; elementary and high school)
  • Pasig (public and private; elementary and high school)
  • Pasay (public and private; elementary and high school)
  • Quezon City (public and private; all levels)
  • Marikina (public and private; pre-school to high school)
  • Laguna province (public and private; all levels)

According to PAGASA,
At 4:00 p.m. today, the eye of Typhoon "LABUYO" was located based on available data 130 km North of Virac, Catanduanes or 220 km Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (15.3°N, 124.3°E) with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 200 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 19 kph.

Based on a DZMM radio report, public storm warning signal was raised by PAGASA in the following areas:

Signal number 1:
Metro Manila,Albay, Sorsogon, the rest of Quezon, Laguna, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Norte, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas.

Signal number 2:
Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Rizal, Northern Quezon, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga and Cagayan

Signal number 3:
Aurora, Nueva Viscaya, Mt. Province, Polilio Island, Quirino, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Ecija and Isabela
