Japan was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on Friday, April 19, 2013 that shook buildings in Tokyo.
The epicenter of the quake was determined at the islands off northern Japan.
There was no tsunami alert issued according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The US Geological Survey registered a 4.6 magnitude quake at 37km North of Yonakuni, Japan at 04:04:34.73 UTC. It was reportedly located near Su-ao, Taiwan.
Last Wednesday, Japan's Miyake islanda was hit by a series of earthquakes that reaches up to 6.2 magnitude.
No immediate details of the damage was provided by authorities.
