Quantum of the Seas, the latest ship unveiled by the Royal Caribbean International on Tuesday, is providing several new amenities for its customers when it becomes available in 2014. The ship will have 10 decks with a registered gross weight of 167,800 tons. It can carry around 4,180 guests in 2,090 staterooms.
Richard D. Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. explained that "This new generation of ships gave us an opportunity to make another leap in vessel design. Innovation has always been part of our DNA and we have taken advantage of all that creativity to design Quantum cruising."
Among the many new attractions of Quantum of the Seas include North Star sky diving, virtual balcony, bumper cars, roller skating and a circus with flying trapeze.
North Star is a jewel-shaped capsule that allows 14 passengers to have a clear view of the sea at about 300 feet above the sea.
The virtual balcony will have an 80-inch LED screen that can stream everything outside the ship.
Quantum class ships will be based out of Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, N.J.
