The Atacama tiny 'alien' skeleton is creating more questions rather than providing answers to medical scientists.

This mummified remains of the tiny 'alien' was discovered in the Atacama Desert ten years ago.

After thorough examination, researchers are quite convinced that the skeleton belongs to a human that is about six to eight years old.

Scientists conducted a DNA test on the Atacama humanoid, measuring about six inches (15 centimeters) in length. They also used high-resolution photography, X-rays and computed tomography scans during their examination of the minute skeleton.

In a statement issued by Garry Nolan, microbiology and immunology professor at Stanford School of Medicine, he explained,
While the jury is out regarding the mutations that cause the deformity, and there is a real discrepancy in how we account for the apparent age of the bones … every nucleotide I've been able to look at is human. I've only scratched the surface in the analysis. But there is nothing that jumps out so far as to scream 'nonhuman.'

Among the results that raised additional questions include:

  • it had just 10 ribs as opposed to 12 in a healthy human,
  • the age the organism died suggests it is stillborn or a deformed child,
  • it may be a human or a South American non-human primate,
  • skull deformities,
  • mild underdevelopment of the mid-face and jaw,
  • skull bear signs of birth defect - turricephaly, or high-head syndrome.

The Atacama skeleton research was featured in the "Sirius" documentary film.
